Remembrance - Lars Bremberg

Lars Bremberg

Visionary drugs activist who founded Vallmotorp TC in 1973

I want to inform you about the death of Lars Bremberg the 7th November 2008 at the age of 81 in Valdermarsvik in Sweden.

Lars Bremberg was an important person within the TC movement. He arranged the first Eupropean TC meeting in Sweden 1976. He started Vallmotorp 1973 and Daytop Sweden some years later.

He also wrote several books about TC treatment and he was for many years the chairman of World Federation of Therapeutic Communities (WFTC). He also started Bremberg House in Thailand.

In the beginning of 1980 he moved to Gusum and bought a house in France, but some years later he got a severe disease and had to adjust to a less active life.

Our thoughts and sympathy go to his wife Helena Nathorst Westfelt and his six children Jinger, Lena, Dag, Sandro, Pamela and Paula. His obituary notice was presented in Norrköpings tidningar and in Uppsala Nya tidning on 7th December by Lennart Gårdinger.

I am writing on behalf of Phoenix Futures to convey our sadness at hearing the news of Lars' death. Several people from Phoenix House, as we were formerly known, will have fond memories of Lars and he will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
